Update: This project has since won a Pulitzer Prize!
The USA TODAY NETWORK set out to explore the controversial topic of 'What would happen if a wall was built along the Mexican border?'. Our editorial and video teams went out and captured content of the communities and people along the 2000 mile border. The project has components that exist on the web, in video, in audio podcasts, as well as on VR platforms that tell the story in unique perspectives. For this project, I was tasked to conceptualize the story given the content we were provided (photos, video, and terrain models of different locations) as well as design the UI for the Virtual Reality experience. I created a storyboard to walk our team through the experience as well as to capture the cinematic feel of our presentation. I worked with our content producers to provide audio narration that would guide the user through the experience. I also created concept art and prototypes for UI transitions.
